My experiences recording at Electrowerks have been incredible. Producer/Engineer, Chuck Macak's experience, ear, and passion for his work separates Electrowerks from all other studios around. I have recorded at many of the top studios in the Chicagoland area, and Electrowerks is always the place where I leave with a product that I am proud of.

about us

Electrowerks is the private studio of award winning producer/engineer Charles Macak.

Electrowerks is a new breed of hybrid studios. Combining the sonic benefits of traditional analog and the infinite possibilities of a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). With the implementation of these new groundbreaking technologies, and the sound of analog, the boundaries are blurred between Analog and Digital to create one seamless sonic landscape. Chuck enlisted the services of Jeff Hedback of HDA to design the room, and he did a great job. The room sounds amazing and is a pleasure to work in. Bright and lively yet dark and comforting. Every artist who works in the room feels very comfortable to let the creative flow happen. Electrowerks has a collection of great analog outboard gear and tape machines of yesteryear along with some of the current sought-after favorites to make sure all the analog bases are covered. With a huge collection of today’s top Plug-ins there is not much Electrowerks can’t achieve. Electrowerks prides itself for using today’s most powerful computers along with top DAW software like Logic and Pro Tools. Electrowerks can start a recording from scratch or pick up where you left off at a previous studio. To see a list of equipment for Electrowerks click the studio link at the top of the page.

Electrowerks is a music production company. That means we not only record music, we produce music.

All great recordings start with great music. We can help with that. Producing music, in theory, is simple. A musician plays an idea, an engineer records it, and that’s all there is to it. Simple, right? Unfortunately, this is often not the case. Far too many producers in today’s industry leave it at just that. Producing great music can require much more work than that. It is a producer’s responsibility to convey the artist’s passionate and emotional ideas in such a way that will be relevent in today’s music industry. A producer needs to take each song, break it down to its rawest form, and build it better, stronger and tighter than before. Every part needs to be analyzed to ensure that they all work as one cohesive unit. Sometimes, a completely new song arises from the process. Other times the song doesn’t need any changes at all.

The craft of producing is an art, and no single philosophy works for every artist. Producer and owner Chuck Macak understands this better than most. Although he has a tremendous amount of experience as an audio engineer, he isn’t just another engineer masquerading as a producer. Chuck focuses on the creative flow. Unlike most producers, he understands that mucking about with the knobs too much becomes a hindrance to the creative flow of the session. Chuck works with his team to pick the instrument best suited for the job, microphone, and gear to capture the finished sound quickly, as to not disrupt the creative flow. Chuck investigates the artist’s interests and goes over their master plan before recording, to acquire the creative goal of the project. Most artists have great ideas, but lack an overall vision of the project as a whole. He thoroughly studies demos beforehand to be familiar with the song at hand, so he can suggest exactly what the song needs during the session. He helps to lay out the progression of the project, so that it has cohesiveness. Unfortunately, the industry today has distinct trends and genres. Many producers require their artists to conform to what is successful or popular. Chuck works to ensure that the project fits into the current industry, without compromise of individuality. Whether it’s Disney pop music or indie alternative rock, the artist’s goal is what’s important.

We’re here to help you create the best music possible and have fun doing it. We wish you all good luck on your journey, we’d love to be a part of it.
